Cole Slater is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and educator dedicated to helping the next generation of creatives bring their visions to life.
A graduate of the prestigious USC School of Cinematic Arts and USC School of Dramatic Arts, Cole studied Media Arts + Practice, a cutting-edge program blending video, animation, 3D design, sound, and interactive media. This eclectic training makes him uniquely equipped to support students applying to a wide range of creative disciplines—from film and animation to design and emerging media. During his time at USC, Cole also worked closely with students as a teaching assistant, supporting experimental production classes. Additionally, Cole’s minor in Theater makes him a masterful storyteller and engaging teacher when working one-on-one with students. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Order of Troy Leadership Award for his notable contributions to developping student life and community while still acheiving academic excellence.
After graduating, Cole’s career expanded into exhibition and spatial design, collaborating with institutions like the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, and Clockshop LA. He later joined the faculty at NYU Tisch’s ITP Summer Intensive, where he taught 3D modeling and digital fabrication, continuing to foster creative confidence in young artists.
Cole later returned to USC School of Cinematic Arts as a contract staff member, guiding students through experimental production courses and mentoring undergraduate senior and PhD thesis projects. He also participated in portfolio reviews and admissions strategy for incoming students, gaining firsthand insight into what top-tier creative programs look for in a candidate.
Most recently, Cole worked as a lead designer at HUMANHOME.CO, an architectural lighting studio, where he launched over 25 lighting products, including several bestsellers that boosted the company’s revenue by over 30%. He continues to design custom furniture and sculptural lighting under his own name.
With a background that bridges media, design, and education, Cole brings a rare mix of technical expertise, creative vision, and teaching experience. His mentorship is ideal for students applying to programs in art, design, industrial design, film, animation, game design, or interdisciplinary media—especially those looking to craft applications that feel both authentic and unforgettable.
